Heather Delooze

Payroll Manager

I take a very hands-on approach with my clients. Understanding their personal and business needs enables me to deliver advice and support that can truly benefit them. My aim is to build long-lasting relationships with my clients as I will be their first port of call, so that whenever they need assistance, they know I am here for them.

My role at SB&P is very much a structured role around clients’ needs. Day-to-day I will be guided by the client when they send the instructions and changes to me for processing. I have a wide variety of clients ranging in sizes and complexity, from monthly, weekly, fortnightly, and annual runs. My work also involves calculating and submitting the Auto Enrolment Pension schemes to the provider, or the client should they wish to submit themselves. However, this is just the beginning, my intention is to have a more visual approach and to visit the clients personally once this is permitted, I feel this personal approach benefits both the client and our working relationship, as we can discuss the tailored package of reports they require.

I have over 25 years working in payroll both in Practice and industry, these roles have been very diverse, but my heart is with practice as I like to be kept on my toes and busy. Just over four years ago I decided I wanted to give something back and help children, so I trained to become a foster carer, I have now been doing this for 3.5 years and had some truly amazing children come to stay with me, one who has been with me for over two years and has become part of my family life when she comes, I can recommend this to anyone who is thinking of doing this, I love it.

What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done?
I have a fear of heights, but I challenged myself to do the mile-long zip wire in Wales, must admit I closed my eyes and didn’t breathe!

What is the most exciting thing on your bucket list?
I would love to take a camper van for three weeks to New Zealand and tour both islands then head across up in Fiji hopefully taking in a rugby game whilst there.

What one piece of advice would you give your 10-year-old self?
Take any opportunity that comes your way, you have one life so the best thing to do is embrace this.

Who inspires you?
I admire anyone that has achieved their goals, despite a difficult start in life
