I take a very personal approach with my clients. By understanding their personal and business goals, as well as their motivation for being in business, enables me to deliver tailored advice and spot opportunities that can truly benefit them. My aim is to build long lasting relationships and become the first port of call for my clients, so that whenever they need assistance, they know I am here for them.
My role is extremely varied. Day-to-day I look after the accountancy needs of a diverse portfolio of clients, which includes bookkeeping, VAT returns and delivering monthly or quarterly management accounts. However, this is just the beginning, I also work with clients to ensure they get the best out of their accounting systems, which includes reviewing and implementing system add-ons and enhancing the reporting functionality of their accountancy software. The end goal being to save my clients time and give them greater insight into their business.
A bit about my background
I have over 10 years of experience working at a top 10 accountancy practice where I achieved my ACCA qualification in 2009. During my time there, I predominantly worked with SME clients on their year-end compliance. I also provided outsourced accountancy solutions to businesses of varying sizes, specialising in Sage, Xero and Quickbooks.
My next role saw me spend five years at a mid-sized regional firm. Whilst there I helped them to build their service offering, which included advising clients on suitable accountancy packages and improving their existing processes, as well as providing management account and year-end compliance services.
What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done?
Mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding are probably my most daring experiences, especially when they go wrong and you have to dig yourself out of trouble (literally in the case of snowboarding!)
What is the most exciting thing on your bucket list?
Snowboarding in the US, particularly Colorado. I’d also like to have a road trip beforehand as it’s a place I’ve never been before.
What one piece of advice would you give your 10-year-old self?
Three pieces of advice really. Make your own way in life, don’t be pressured into anything you don’t want to do and that with a little hard work and perseverance, you can achieve whatever you want to do.
Who inspires you?
My friends inspire me. I have friends who have quit their jobs to set up businesses and friends who have emigrated to follow their dreams. I find these types of risks inspirational.
